New Information and Communication Technology (NICT) for students and women in rural areas of Kolda, Senegal

This project is being implemented in the village of Médina Chérif in the Region of Kolda, Senegal. The beneficiaries are 600 students enrolled in 16 primary schools, two secondary schools and one high school as well as 425 young women from 17 women’s groups.
The overall objective is to contribute to improving the educational, economic and environmental capacities of the population of the department of Kolda through access to new information and communication technologies, while the specific objective is to enable students and women in the community of Médina Chérif to use new information and communication technologies (NICT) in order to improve their educational, economic and environmental skills.
Thus, the project will provide students and women in the community of Médina Cherif with continuous access to new information and communication technologies for educational, economic and environmental purposes through improving and strengthening the centre’s computer and teaching equipment capacity. Futhermore, the beneficiary women will be trained in mechanisms for adding value to local products by processing and/or preserving them.
